Precinct Convention

Held after the polls close on Primary Election Day at your polling (voting) place. March 2, 2010

* To participate, you must have voted in the Republican primary (Have your voter card stamped to verify voting.)

* Precinct chairman may open the meeting and then a permanent chairman is elected.

* Delegates for the Senatorial Convention are selected and voted upon.

* Resolutions for platform may be presented in writing and voted upon.

* There is no quorum requirement to hold the convention.

* Required paperwork is provided and must be returned to the CountyRepublican Party headquarters by the date stipulated in the packet or it will not be valid.

* Remind your voters and members to attend this very important, first step in the Grass Roots process.

*Precinct Convention may last from a few minutes to an hour or more.


Senatorial / County Convention

Held Saturday, March 20, 2010

* Delegates are those chosen at the Precinct Conventions

* Each Senatorial District or County will hold a convention.

* Some Precinct delegates will be asked to help organize this Convention and serve on Temporary Committees: Credentials, Rules, Organization, Resolutions,
Nominations. These meetings will precede the Convention

* Permanent committee members are elected by the whole body of the convention.

* Delegates to the State Convention in Dallas will be selected by the Nominations Committee and then presented to the whole body of the Convention for a
vote.

* Resolutions will be selected by the Resolutions Committee and presented to the whole body for a vote

* Convention lasts one day.

*Vote is by caucus (Your vote will be a % of those attending. Ex: 20 delegate positions; 10 attendees = 2 votes per delegate.)

State Republican Convention

June 11 & 12, 2010, Dallas, TX

* Delegates are selected by the Senatorial Delegate Committee

* The State Chairman shall appoint 1 delegate from each Senatorial District to serve on Temporary Credentials, Rules, Organization, and Platform Committees.

* Permanent committee members will be elected by the whole body of the convention

* The State Chairman will appoint a caucus chairman from each Senatorial District. In presidential election years, the State Chairman will appoint a caucus chairman from each Congressional
District.

* Senatorial Districts will caucus the first day of Convention to elect 1 man and 1 woman to serve on State Republican Executive Committee

* Convention shall elect a State Chairman

* Only In Presidential years, Congressional Districts will caucus the second day to elect 3 national delegates and 3 alternates to attend national convention.

* A National Committeeman and National Committeewoman will be elected to represent Texas on the RNC.

* Each Congressional caucus will elect an Elector and a person to serve on the nominations Committee. (This committee will select delegates and alternates to
attend National Convention.)

* A state platform will be voted on by the whole body of the convention.
I head many people in the poll lines asking what a Precinct Convention was and why they had to choose a party.  We need to be educated in the process.  You start here and read and ask.  GET INVOLVED AND KNOW WHO AND WHAT YOU ARE VOTING FOR!

The true "grass roots" envolvement starts after you vote in a Primary election.   Your voice can be heard in the Party and the POLLS.
